in fredericksburg, so use caution. a category one hurricane is moving through the western bahamas with a maximum sustained winds of 80 miles an hour. it is growing in size. it extends out to under 75 miles from the center of the storm and is expected to grow in size as it parallels the east coast. possible impact for us will be flooding from heavy rain, leads down clogging the drains, lots of coastal issues not just because of a storm surge but there will be a full moon. trees could be down from high wind. and power outages can be expected. for today, morning fog and drizzle giving way to partly sunny skies this afternoon. high temperature of 68-72. and a cooldown in the seven-day forecast. next, traffic. >> good morning. poor visibility this morning in spots. poor visibility in springfield. northbound 95 right here. not much volume out of newington and over the beltway. you mheard me mention a crash around lorton but it's not causing much of a back up. from the beltway and inbound 14th street bridge into the nation's capital, it is quiet new york avenue is good. beltway is open.

the coastal areas already. the storm is 400 miles away from d.c. it will impact us all day. we will be going downhill. anything you still have to do to prepare for the storm, that needs to be done now. philip your bathtub, make sure anything loose outdoors has been secured. it's a good idea to spend a day in theless you arelood prone area. i want to talk about the waves. two big thrifts from the storm will be the flooding and the wind. adam caskey will be here in the second to talk about the flood threat. i want to talk about the wind. if it's gusting between 15 miles an hour to 25 miles an hour right now. but by this afternoon it will pick up. the tree limbs could start coming down as well as power lines and large trees, if they are unstable with saturated soil. we will have a prolonged period of extreme wind. we are talking 24-36 hours potentially. this will peak late this evening and tomorrow morning. the wind could reach 60 or 70 miles an hour. that is the gusts. right now there are gusts of 20 miles an hour in manassas and 29 in quantico. lexington park, 32 miles per hour gust.

school. this comes after a female that she was home.ed john gonzalez joins us with this story.ing >> really disturbing. this is a warning for all especially those in west springfield. that alert went out to parents attending westen springfield. according to the washington student got in parking lot on night around 8:00. there were a number of after- school activities that night. she tells police that when she headed home on old -- road, she noticed a suspicious man following her. dark blue four- sedan and the actually drove to her home, followed her all the way home and tried to her when she got out of your car. was able to get inside house before the man fled the scene. fairfax county police are looking to see if this is perhapscase connected to a couple of fondling cases last month involving two teenage girls and an adult female. they're all walking on the area when a man approached the three of them in occasions and grab them from behind. is now four similar cases springfield. unfortunately, police say the description is very vague. they have no leads and no arrests. reporting
